Mickey See - Professional Makeup Artist
Jay Wee - Professional Hairstylist
Mickey did my cousin's wedding day makeup, Achie Minnie (June 2014) - And it looked beautiful:

Since then, I have this mindset that he would be my makeup artist on my wedding day. (As funny as it may seem, I already have the Church and makeup artist in mind long ago, years before the proposal) 🤣
But apart from the fact that I really wanted him to do my makeup, I also did my research and I showed his works to Joseph. (In short, I was insta-stalking him!) After showing his works and comparing them to other makeup artists based in Manila, Joseph agreed that Mickey is the one. Yaaaaasssss!
** BTW In Manila, you need to book a lot of suppliers way in advance and makeup artist is one of them (I think, specially I already have someone in mind). Also, one year is the ideal timeline for wedding planning**
Fast forward to the wedding day, I formally met Mickey See and along with him was Hairstylist - Jay Wee.
They came early to set up in the room, while Joseph and I went to the club lounge to have our breakfast.
Afterwards, it felt like the time went by so quickly: Mayad team came to set up as well.
When I was ready for my makeup, Mickey asked me to wash my face and he gave me a dime-sized amount of cleanser and right after, he massaged my face with moisturiser. The feeling was quite nice, 90's pop music was also on his playlist that day, which was cute.
While there’s a lot things going on in the room and with my phone buzzing with messages, I suddenly felt unwell. I had this feeling of discomfort, my heart was racing, and I lost my breakfast because I didn’t know that I was already having an anxiety attack, and I had to excuse myself while he was doing my makeup.
I felt very sorry for him as he's already done with the foundation and eyebrows, I remembered I was apologising because he needs to retouch it again. He was quick on having the hunch that I still feel anxious, and he just calmly said “It’s ok, I can do it again. Don’t worry about it”.
After a while, when he felt that I am still anxious, he held my arm, gave it a little squeeze, he looked me in the eye and asked “are you ok?”. He knew I needed someone to calm me down, and he knows he was at the right moment. Fortunately, it helped me regain my composure fast enough to continue on and he started chatting with me, so I'd feel calmer. Thank you for being motherly at the right time when I needed it Mickey!
Right after that, the makeup and hairstyling went by like nothing happened!
*For the hairstyle and makeup pegs, I showed them what I have in mind, and with their skills and experience, it seemed like it was so easy. Furthermore, when they were doing my makeup and hair, it didn’t feel like forever, at the same time, it didn’t feel like I was rushed.
*I also didn’t opt to wear a pair of coloured contact lenses for pre wedding shoot and wedding day, because my eyes easily get irritated and I’m really just not used to it. 😅 *
And off we go to the Church!
When the Church door was still closed, Mickey quickly fixed my necklace, and he taught me what to do while waiting. (I didn’t know that you need to close your eyes before the door opens, etc… (LOL)) so, thank you so much!
After the ceremony, they were anticipating us outside the church to do a quick touch up for photos and videos and we went back to the hotel.
Afterwards, we had lunch/afternoon tea (considered as early dinner) in the holding room of the hotel, they did some touch up before we continue with the photoshoot in the afternoon; and before the banquet starts, they changed my day to night hair and makeup.
Mickey’s makeup on me looked stunning. Specially the day makeup, I loved the fact that my dark circles disappeared! (This is considering that I had only 5 hours of sleep the night before the wedding and I didn't have any trial makeup session with him)
When I get to view the photos and videos (SDE) of Mayad, I wanted to know what product he used as a concealer! Super Love it! And the eyebrows - they are just perfect! (Because - Perfect eyebrows is life). It looked so natural, and the makeup on my face is even with my neck colour! Really like both of my hairstyles on this day too. It looked super-chic.
Mickey also did the makeup for my Mom and Achie, and when we look at the photos, (I have to repeat myself again), our eyebrows are so on point! After the wedding (in fact even before the banquet starts), my mom and sister told me that Mickey took care of them very well.
So, I really thank you Mickey and Jay, not only for making me feel like I embody an ethereal beauty, but also in taking care of my mom and sister! I just missed the chance of taking photos with you two. It’s not everyday that I can get a professional makeup artist and hairstylist, but it’s lovely to experience it on one of the best days of my life. Just truly wonderful! God Bless both of you more!
**BTW, One of the main things I needed to thoroughly check when I was doing my research or looking out for makeup artists on instagram or pinterest were:
How makeup artists draw the eyebrow arch
The transition from face makeup colour to the neck - shoulders - they really have to be even!
The glow from the eyes of the model/bride
For the hair, Joseph said if you still can see the hair pins, it’s not a job well done. (Which I definitely agree on this)
**It's also important to check on other client reviews and/or ask for friend/ relative reviews. On the other hand, In Manila, I realised that most makeup artists also also offer trial makeup but on a separate fee.**
With Love,
Joseph and Marieta
